The Organization of Hindu Malayalees Society of Calgary (OHM) is excited to announce the vibrant and joyous festival of Onam, a cherished celebration among Malayalees. This year, we will bring the spirit of Kerala to Calgary, uniting the community in a grand display of culture, tradition, and togetherness.

Event Highlights

Pookalam: Marvel at the creation of beautiful, large floral designs symbolizing the prosperity and harmony of the festival, crafted by talented OHM Calgary artists. 

Cultural Performances: Enjoy traditional dance forms like Thiruvathira, along with Chenda Melam, music, and drama that capture the essence of Onam festivities and Kerala’s rich heritage, all presented by talented OHM Calgary artists.

Onam Sadhya: Relish an elaborate vegetarian feast served on banana leaves, featuring a variety of delicious Kerala dishes handcrafted by culinary specialists from OHM Calgary.

Onam is a harvest festival celebrated with great enthusiasm by Malayalees worldwide. It commemorates the legendary King Mahabali and the annual visit of his spirit to Kerala.
